The ABRR-PA 2025 Charity
The ABRR is a great way to spend a weekend driving beautiful roads in your British car with fellow British car nuts, but it is fundamentally a fundraising effort for a charity that benefits children. Each year we choose a different charity focus. In 2025 the ABRR PA run is supporting the Shriners Wheelchair and Seating program.
Shriners Wheelchair and Seating Program
The Wheelchair and Seating program has been in existence for over 25 years, helping children with disabilities - wheelchair, seating, and mobility who need our assistance. Patients have very demanding wheelchair requirements for their mobility needs. When parts break or malfunction, a child can experience devastating setbacks. Repairs, adjustments and replacements completed in a timely manner are vital to a disabled child's daily living. The Wheelchair and Seating program includes wheelchairs and associated peripherals, power mobility and teaching mobility and use of specialized equipment.
The Wheelchair and Seating program gives the children in our care with disabilities or special orthopedic needs the opportunity to upgrade, repair or replace their wheelchair and seating. Proper Wheelchair and Seating allows a child to move independently and is crucial in facilitating a child's development. Proper fit and comfort relieve pressure and help alleviate bed and seating sores.
Imagine being underinsured or uninsured and not able to afford upgraded wheelchair and seating - children growing at a fast rate require upgrades to their wheelchair and seating needs frequently. Shriners Children's goal is to provide every child with the best fit and comfort to be able to move to their fullest ability. All children in need are served regardless of their family's ability to pay or insurance status.
Our Wheelchair specialist creates special adaptive equipment that helps kids do what they love best bicycling, skateboarding and even dancing and playing basketball.
Research in developmental psychology has found that the ability to move independently is crucial in facilitating a child's development. Mobility has a direct impact on cognitive, social and communication skills. You can make the difference!
